Sustaining its efforts to supply high-quality, uninterrupted, and sustainable energy, Başkent EDAŞ invested 56 million TL in Bartın, a distinguished city with a population exceeding 190,000 and extensive forest areas, mountainous terrain, and rural settlements, in the first half of 2025. Pressing ahead to ensure the security and continuity of energy supply, the company has also accelerated its maintenance and repair works.
Başkent EDAŞ, one of the three Enerjisa Distribution Companies together with Ayedaş and Toroslar EDAŞ, which proceed with pioneering technologies in the sector and a people-oriented approach, sustained its efforts to supply more reliable and uninterrupted energy to over 150,000 customers in Bartın through its 551 substations and 7,555-kilometer-long energy line in the first half of 2025.
As one of the 4 electricity distributions companies which achieved the highest amount of investment in 2024, Başkent EDAŞ ramped up its maintenance and repair works in Merkez, Amasra, Kurucaşile and Ulus districts with the goal to have a better-lit and safer city. In the first half of 2025, maintenance works were completed for 1,579 lighting fixtures by a year-on-year increase of 17%, and 26 substations by a year-on-year increase of 4%. Moreover, the company strengthened its energy infrastructure with the maintenance works completed at 2 distribution centers. In the same period, the company carried out maintenance works for 141-kilometer-long lines, contributing to sustainable energy distribution.
Laying a total of 11-kilometer-long new cables to supply uninterrupted and high-quality energy to its more than 150,000 customers that the company provides service, the company completed the installation works for 181 lighting fixtures. Additionally, the company further strengthened its infrastructure by installing 7 electric distribution panels and 4 substations. As the second electricity distribution company which employed the highest number of personnel in 2024 following Toroslar EDAŞ with more than 6,000 personnel, Başkent EDAŞ successfully achieved its targets set for the first half 2025 with the maintenance, repair, and investment figures achieved.
Başkent EDAŞ launched innovative technologies to protect forests in Bartın, one of the top 10 cities which cover the densest forest areas in Türkiye, benefits from AI applications in its operations.
Commissioned in 2025, the AI-powered "Vegetation Management System," which is used for the first time on an approximately 400-kilometer-long line in Bartın, uses satellite images to monitor vegetation around energy transmission lines. Thanks to this new application, pruning plans are developed accordingly and fire prevention measures in forest areas are reinforced.
